Environmental Pollution

Our earth is the only planet in the universe which has an environment suitable for life. Air and water is needed for survival. Earth provided these essentials and man used them. This usage over the period has led to serious pollution problems that can be hazardous.

Many industries have come up owing to rapid urbanization. Furthermore, there is an ever increasing demand of petrol and diesel for running various means of transport. As a result, a heavy amount of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, sulphur-dioxide and many more gases are polluting the air. The major threat to humanity comes from the development of nuclear sciences.

The nuclear experiments worldwide are destroying the atmospheric balance. The poisonous gases, chemicals and dust released into the air fall back on earth as acid rain harming crops and life. This has caused various harmful diseases.

Rain water is considered as the purest form of water. Water pollution in lakes, rivers, ponds and other water bodies is caused by surface water which carries a large amount of chemical discharge of industries and inorganic discharge of city sewage. Such impurities are a serious threat to the existence of mankind.

Our country faces one more problem i.e. noise pollution. Loud horns during traffic chaos, screaming loudspeakers at different occasions and blasting crackers that almost make one deaf are killing the peaceful silence. Use of silencers, abiding by proper traffic regulations and checking excessive use of public speaker systems can help in reducing noise-pollution.

This is the time of implement the steps for environmental Protection. It has been rightly said that there is something in this world money can’t buy, such as beautiful scenery and fresh air.

The National Flag of Bangladesh

A national flag is the pictogram of a country’s sovereignty and its own identity of being an independent nation. The national flag of Bangladesh is our pride.The national flag of Bangladesh was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. Our heart swells up with joy when we see the flag upholds our country’s entity on the world map. Our glorious national flag was purchased at too great a price at the cost of a sea of blood. Painter Quamrul Hasan is the designer of our national flag. It is rectangular in shape. Its length and width ration are 10:6. The red circular disc with map of Bangladesh symbolises blood of thousands of Bangalees killed by the Pakistanis since 1947. It also represents the rising sun and the sacrifice of our people to achieve independence. The green backdrop stands for vitality, youthfulness and greenery. The background colour also emblematises the greenery of Bangladesh with its vitality and youthfulness. The national flag is hoisted atop the government, semi-government and self-autonomous buildings everyday. But it is kept at half-mast on any national or international mourning days. The flag is the source of spirit, hope and inspiration. The flag must be kept at its sublime position at any cost.

Life of A Day Labourer

A day labourer is a person who leads his life by the sweat of his brow in various fields. He is healthy, string and stout. He lives with his family in a slum and lives a subhuman life. He is usually employed in agricultural and construction work. He works form morning to evening according to the direction of his employer. He gets up early in the morning and goes out in search of work. In the evening he gets his wages. Then he goes to market, buys his daily necessaries and returns to his house. He has both pleasures and pains. If he earns more, he gets pleasures. When he fails to do that, he gets pains. Sometimes he and his family go without food. The life of a day labourer is full of sorrows and sufferings. In good or dab weathers he has to work hard. He does not know what resist is. Though the service of a day labourer is great important, he does not get his due respect. So we should have soft feeling for him so that he can lead a decent life with dignity.
